NYS Senator Shelley B. Mayer - Assessing Ida-Related Damage
Excerpt from NYS Senator Mayer’s latest communication from 9/3/21:
It has been a difficult couple of days for many in our community. Since the storm, I’ve heard many stories of rescues by first responders. In every community, firefighters, police, EMS, transit workers and public servants saved lives. What they do during these times of crisis is incredible and we are all tremendously grateful for them.
Today, I visited Yonkers, Mamaroneck, Port Chester, New Rochelle and Tuckahoe to meet with property owners, renters and small business owners experiencing Ida-related damage. The damage in our area is extensive. Many of our neighbors face a long clean up and recovery. I thank the Red Cross for setting up a shelter at Mamaroneck High School and all the community organizations that are working diligently to provide people with the assistance they need.
We continue to work closely with Governor Hochul’s office and our federal partners to ensure funds are available to business owners, homeowners and renters. We will let you know as soon as applications are available. In the meantime, be sure to document your damage with pictures.
